The Legendary Explorers were introduced in 1978 and have been living up to their name for 34 years by traversing waterways around the world. The new lighter stronger Explorers are made possible by advancements in technology plus some good old fashioned kayaking experience. Sea Eagle Explorer Kayaks were first introduced in 1978. We are very proud to
introduce the 4th complete redesign in their history. These new Sea Eagle 380x
& 420x Explorers now feature a full length, lash-down high pressure drop stitch
floor for greater structural strength and rigidity and a large removable slide
skeg for true tracking ability. Because the drop stitch floor is only 3” thick, it
provides a very low center of gravity, greater cockpit depth and more inside
cockpit space for extra gear. A great new feature is the 16 open and shut drain
valves which allow you to drain the kayak superfast in heavy white water and in
ocean surf, yet also allows you to run completely dry on flatwater rivers, open
lakes and bays. Best of all, these Explorers are made with new ultra light, super
strong 1000 denier material that reduces greatly their weight (5 & 7 lbs.)
Light enough and compact enough to be checked in as airline luggage, yet easy
to be paddled by one or two people. These are great all around kayaks for
growing families, serious open water paddling kayaks and true expedition
quality craft that can be taken into the wilderness for weeks at a time.

What do you do when the placid river you’re kayaking becomes a free-for-all of rapids?
Drains OPEN: the craft bails itself through the 16 large, evenly spaced, convertible drain valves.
Drains CLOSED: they don’t let a drop of water in so you stay comfortable and your cargo stays dry.
In flat water, slide on the large, removable skeg to keep the explorer on its intended course. The skeg limits the sideways deviation called yaw that comes from paddling, allowing for greater efficiency and speed. Ideal for those long treks across wide, scenic lakes renown for placid beauty.
The new Explorer Kayak is tough as nails and rugged enough to conquer any boulder strewn rapids. Stem to stern, it’s constructed of super light and super strong 1,000 denier polyester-supported high-pressure fabric. The new state of the art design incoporates electronically welded seams and a double floor system, making the Explorer as tough as “crocodile hide”.
Most other inflatables are good for Whitewater paddling OR flatwater touring - but not both.
Whitewater inflatables are "wet-only" boats. They drain excess whitewater in wet conditions but leave you wet and cold in flatwater
Flatwater inflatables - dry only boats - have no drain valves so they're useless if you get into rough water.

"I bought a Sea Eagle 380x Explorer from you 10 years ago. It has been on every river of any note in the west. I just got back from a great trip down the middle fork of the Salmon river. Lots of class 3 and 4 rapids. I have also often had my Sea Eagle on the Sea of Cortez. It is a great boat. I would suggest this boat to anyone. When I bought my IK I had seen your truck with advertising at Costco in Prescott. I am glad I did! I can't imagine a better boat for my varied needs!

" Well Crystal we are back. The overnight package arrived Tues. AM allowing us time to inflate the Sea Eagle 420x Explorer Kayak and make sure we had everything we needed (thanks to you!) We had a ball! For two 60 year olds who had only kayaked once before at a friends cottage on a calm lake - we did amazingly well, and enjoyed every minute in Door County on the bays of Lake Michigan. My husband was amazed how much I enjoyed it because I have always been somewhat afraid of boating on Lake Michigan. We felt so safe in the Sea Eagle 420x Explorer kayak. The Sea Eagle 420x Explorer kayak allowed us to enjoy hour upon hour of exploring the beautiful Door County shorelines with its rock ledges, lighthouses, golf courses and beaches. Never took the golf clubs out of the car! It did not take long to inflate the 420 Explorer kayak, by the time I had all the bags attached and loaded, the oars assembled and the seats in, my husband had the boat inflated and ready to go; the first time about 15 minutes after that about 10 minutes.
We had many other kayakers ask about the Sea Eagle. One of the guides from a Kayak group asked if that was one of those fancy European kayaks. He seemed impressed with our Sea Eagle 420 and was glad he was able to get a look at one in the water. Even after paddling for hours at a leisurely pace, neither one of us were tired. One day we went out on a smaller inland lake when the weather was not very good. We never should have been out there because the wind was blowing at about 20 miles per hours and the lake was extremely choppy. We both said later that we felt very safe in the Sea Eagle 420 because we never felt like it would tip over. I think we said it at least 50 times each, the boat was soooo comfortable, when we stopped paddling to enjoy the views, it was like being on an inflatable raft. We could lean back and relax. Also, the great thing about this boat is that it fits in our BMW Z3\'s trunk, with the top down, for day and weekend get aways. We are hooked, unfortunately summer is rapidly coming to a close."

Our newest and largest Sea Eagle Explorer Kayak, the SE 420x is actually a model that many customers have asked us to make...a longer, larger Explorer Kayak capable of carrying more people and more gear! It is ideal for extended camping and for wilderness expedition trips where you need to take weeks of camping gear. Hunters and fishermen will love this kayak because it is small enough to be flown deflated in a small airplane to a remote lake, yet large enough inflated to carry out trophy game and fish.
Like our other Sea Eagle Explorer Kayaks, this is a wet/dry kayak. It can be completely self-bailing when the 4 large drain valves are left open for whitewater kayaking or completely dry when the 4 large drain valves are closed in calm waters. This is an expedition quality kayak, rugged enough to go down class 4 white water, large enough to hold 2 or 3 people and camping gear and tough enough to be taken for months into the wilderness.

an editorial...and a promise!
Sea Eagle requires from their dealers Minimum Advertised Prices (MAP) that are consistent with Sea Eagle's company website prices. The guidelines are simple. Anything below these prices is illegal.
All dealers are supposed to follow these guidelines but there continue to be several shopping sites that openly and cosistently violate Sea Eagle's MAP policy and advertise priices below the MAP minimums. These shopping sites are very big multi-million dollar companies who wouldn’t know a boat from a bullet or a kayak from a Kleenex but they'll sell anything and use their clout to drown the little guys and the Mom and Pops of the retail world. Most violators are millions bigger than even Sea Eagle so Sea Eagle is very careful that they don't antagonize these big guys and tend to turn their back on the illegal practices of these multi-million violators like Overstorck, Amazon, and DirectBoats to name a few..
Which brings me to our little Mom and Pop boat company Inflatable Boats 4 Less. Mom (Crystal) and Pop (Tim) love boating, and Sea Eagle inflatable Boats in particular, and devote much of their time keeping you informed about the benefits of Sea Eagle boats, kayaks, and accessories.
